Overview

Bolmuir Park playground is being renewed as part of Council's 2021-2028 Long-Term Plan, and we want to hear your thoughts and feedback on the concept design.

Council has been working with Forest Lake School, a neighbour of the park, who have been fundraising to upgrade the playground at their school. Because these playgrounds are close together, we had the unique opportunity to partner up and deliver a shared playground that can be used by the school and the local community.

We've been working closely with the school to create a design that reflects the unique cultural identity of the school and also the play opportunities for the local community.

The concept design uses natural and recycled materials where possible like timber balance beams, stepping logs and climbing poles surrounding a central Pohutukawa tree with native plants to encourage children to connect with nature and the land while playing. It also shows refurbished existing playground items such as overhead bars, a climbing net and scaling wall. There will also be a fence around the playground.

Below, you will see some examples of the items that will be included, as well as a birds-eye-view map of the design.

Some examples of play items: native plantings, large tree with balance item and climbing posts
