Consultation on the Revenue and Financing Policy and Rates Remission and Postponement has now closed, with a total of 5 submissions received. It was open from 13 April to 15 May 2015.
Council used a different process to hear submissions. Engagement sessions were offered where the submitters had the opportunitity to talk to the Mayor and councillors, and provide feedback. These replaced the hearings format we have used in the past.

Hamilton Lake Domain and Innes Common are two the city’s most popular locations, for both residents and visitors.

The Hamilton Roller Skating Club has approached Council with a proposal to construct a speed skating track at Melville Park.
The club already operates the enclosed rink at the park, and has done so for several years.
This proposed speed skating track is not currently covered by the existing management plan for the park, and construction of the track will require Hamilton City Council to grant a new community occupancy lease to the club under the Researves Act 1977.

A draft Heritage Plan has been developed by the Council’s Heritage Advisory Panel and Council staff.
The plan provides a holistic approach to ensuring structures, buildings and areas of heritage significance in the city are identified and conserved for future generations.
Heritage funding guidelines that set out how the Council’s $100,000 heritage fund will be managed have also been developed.

Consultation on the Local Alcohol Bylaw 2015 has now closed.
Submissions were open from 5 August 2015 to 2 September 2015.
This bylaw controls where and when people can drink or have alcohol in their possession in public places. Currently there are 24/7 bans in the Central City and Te Rapa areas. Council on 28 April 2016 adopted a revised Class 4 Gambling Venue Policy. This Policy regulates the location and number of venues which have gambling machines (Class 4 venues) within Hamilton City.
A potential further change to the policy has been identified. The further amendment would allow existing operators within the permitted gambling area to move to another venue within the permitted gambling area.
