When Hamilton City Council consulted with the community around the development of the Rangatahi Action Plan, a strong theme that came through was around the need for ‘third spaces’ (a space that isn’t an educational institution, work or home).

Around 300 comments referred to some kind of third space, including creative spaces, green and blue spaces (such as the river, lake and parks), hangout spaces, an improved central city and spaces that cater to specific groups.

As a result of this feedback, we developed an action to review the existing rangatahi facilities across the city and identify any opportunities for new/improved spaces.

  • Action 1

Review existing rangatahi facilities across the city (including youth event spaces) and identify opportunities for new/improved rangatahi hubs.
