In November 2025 we asked for feedback from the Rototuna community to help shape how the Rototuna Town Centre develops in future. Participants had the opportunity to drop a pin on the interactive map to provide comments and to share additional feedback in open comments.
The current concept plan for Rototuna Town Centre in Hamilton’s District Plan (our rulebook for development) is out of date. We wanted feedback from the Rototuna community to help shape how it’s going to develop in the future so we can have an up-to-date plan.
We heard from residents, visitors, workers, and businesses. The feedback will help us:
We had 93 pins dropped on the interactive map and heard from 116 respondents from open comments.
The main themes that came through the open comments include:

Council is currently reviewing all feedback received through the consultation. Community insights will help inform the development of the Rototuna Town Centre Master Plan and the planning work needed to support a future plan change.
Over the next few months, we will:
We’re currently putting together the work programme for a future plan change process. Public notification is expected in late 2026, and the community will have an opportunity to make formal submissions.
We are also exploring options for additional community engagement as the master plan develops. This may include targeted stakeholder discussions or a public drop‑in session.
We’re asking for feedback from the Rototuna community to help shape how the Rototuna Town Centre develops in future – aiming to guide the development of residential, commercial, transport and community spaces.
Rototuna Town Centre includes the area between North City Road, Resolution Drive and Borman Road, and is supported by Te Kete Aronui Library, Korikori Sports Park, Woolworths and Rototuna Village.
We're seeking feedback to help our ongoing planning processes to ensure the area fits community needs.
We’ve identified four key areas we’d like your feedback on to help shape how Rototuna Town Centre develops in the future. We want to hear your stories – the positives and the negatives – about how the town centre works for you as a local resident or regular visitor.
Transport - This includes roads, footpaths, cycle lanes, and traffic.
Green spaces - This includes parks, natural areas, and open spaces
| Land use - What type of land you want to see? For example, residential, commercial, or community-focused spaces. | |
| Community - This includes shared areas, community activities, culture expressions, and local identity in Rototuna. |
What’s currently working, what could be better, and what you’d love to see in the future at Rototuna Town Centre. We have mapped out the key boundary area identifying Rototuna Town Centre.
