We’ve developed a draft plan to help manage primarily stormwater, water supplies, and wastewater in the Te Rapa area to enable growth while protecting the environment. It’s called an integrated catchment management plan (ICMP).

An ICMP helps us make better decisions about how land is used, how we look after the water resources we have, and the infrastructure we need to manage stormwater such as wetlands or rain gardens.

ICMPs are being developed for all 16 hydrological catchments in Hamilton, as required by the Comprehensive Stormwater Discharge Consent from Waikato Regional Council.

The Te Rapa catchment covers approximately 1140 hectares in North Hamilton, and around 60% of the catchment is in Waikato District.

As the draft Te Rapa ICMP is a substantial document, please see the key points document that summarises our proposed approach.

We want your feedback on the draft Te Rapa ICMP to help inform the final document.

Next steps

All feedback will be considered, and we’ll get in touch if there are any major changes that affect your property. The final ICMP will then be lodged with Waikato Regional Council for certification.
