Hamilton City Council’s Development Contributions policy is coming up for review. There will be workshops in October-November this year in advance of the formal public consultation scheduled for March-April 2018. You are encouraged to get involved and have your say.
The following short survey will provide Council important information to aid the development of policy options leading up to formal public consultation, and will only take a few minutes to complete.
What is a Development Contribution?
A development contribution (DC) is a levy on new developments collected under the Local Government Act 2002 to ensure that any development that creates additional demand on Council infrastructure contributes a fair, equitable, and proportionate share of the extra cost imposed on the community. Development contributions may be assessed on:
Development contributions are used for providing new or expanded infrastructure and are only used in the area and for the activity for which they were required. The contribution is a one-off charge. The subsequent operation and maintenance of such infrastructure is covered by Council through rates and other charges.
