In August 2022, we asked the Chartwell community for their feedback around an upgrade of the playground at Chartwell Park. We wanted to know what sorts of play equipment they wanted to see at their playground, with a like-for-like renewal planned. This means that the playground will be staying roughly the same size and having the same number of play features.
Through the engagement, some key themes and insights emerged.
Our community’s feedback focused on:
We are working on designs for Chartwell Park playground, incorporating our community’s feedback. Construction is scheduled for January 2024. There is a toilet in Chartwell Park which is being renewed in 2023.
We want to know what you want to see at Chartwell Park Playground!
As part of the 2021-2024 10-Year Plan decisions, Council has committed funding to the improvement of playgrounds.
We want to make sure your voice is factored into the design of the new playground, which currently has a basic modular unit installed in 2008 with swings from 1985 and a spinner and wave rider from 2014.
The new playground will be more up to date, providing fun within a safe yet challenging environment for our young explorers. We’d also like to make it easy for parents watching sports to see their other children playing on the playground.
It will also encourage children to play in a range of different ways such as climbing, sliding, jumping and spinning, depending on the new equipment, encouraging them to experiment, make friends and have fun.
We're also hosting an information drop-in session - check out the event details at the bottom of this page!
Come along to our info session at Chartwell Library where staff will be available to talk about the Chartwell Park playground renewal project on Friday 2 September 3.30pm - 4.30pm
