Forming a Shared Waters Management Company

Closed 27 Nov 2017

Opened 25 Oct 2017

Hamilton City Council, Waipa District Council and Waikato District Council have been working together to find a better way of providing water, wastewater and stormwater services to their respective communities.

A number of options have been considered.

Waikato District Council is still considering what option will be best for its own community.

However, both Hamilton City and Waipa District Councils now wish to consult on forming a Shared Waters Management Company with their two councils as founding shareholders.

If Waikato District Council wants to join the Shared Waters Management Company at a later date, it would be welcome to do so.

The information booklet (listed in the related links section below) outlines what a Shared Waters Management Company is and why Hamilton City and Waipa District Councils are considering forming one.

No decisions to form a Shared Waters Management Company have been made. Decisions will not be made until both councils have considered community feedback.

Those decisions will be made independently, by each council, on behalf of their respective communities. The decisions made by each council will help inform their 2018-2028 10-Year Plans.

You are invited to comment on this proposal by making a submission.

The consultation period is from 25 October to 10am 27 November.

PRIVACY STATEMENT: Submissions under the Local Government Act 2002 are public documents.  They will be made available in a report to both councils, on the councils’ websites and to members of the public on request. Personal information will be used for administration purposes and as part of the consultation process.  You have the right to correct any errors in personal details contained in your submission.
